Music, Lyrics, and Book by Leenya Rideout
Artwork by Lynn Rideout
Lynn is a sweet church lady who talks a lot about bodily functions… and sex. According to her daughter Leenya, who’s name means “Little Lynn”, she’s "a sitcom character cast in a Greek tragedy". Though both are artists--one a painter and the other an actor-musician--they are a world apart, figuratively and literally. Growing up with Lynn as a mother was filled with mixed messages involving artistry and ambition, sex and self sabotage and perspective and prayer. Both funny and poignant, featuring both Lynn's paintings and Leenya's original songs, this one-woman musical examines what it means to tell your story in a world that strives to keep women invisible and the primal relationship that is at once universal and infinitely complex.
